Baz luhrmanns interpretation of romeo and Juliet is that is set in Mexico where there is lot of street fights going on and in the film there is a scene we’re Sampson and abram are arguing  and they have a fight but that. i think Mexico is set I’m the film and not the play because as I said its renown for street fights. Another interpretation that baz luhrmann uses in the play is that verona is a costal city were romeo is always laying on the beach so u can tell it’s not set in Verona because its not a costal city so Mexico is a perfect setting because Mexico is a costal city. baz luhrmann uses dream in the play to represent drugs and is talking about fairy queen and it will make u go crazy and u couldn’t think right but in the play he uses drugs instead of talking about fairy queen and baz luhrmann uses extract in the play to represent that. There is a scene in Romeo and Juliet were the prince and the chief of police are both role models of society but the interpretation is that the prince inherits his power and the chief of police works for it but the difference is they both have soldiers but the police are for the chief of police and both are respected by the people in verona. This does display there strength and power in the film.

In the modern version of Romeo and Juliet baz luhrmann uses gun in the fights instead of swords, theme when the capulets fight the montagues they both draw there swords this is an interpretation off when they hold each other at gun point. One of the other interpretations is when the prince is post to come to the scene of the fight were there fighting but instead the capulets and montagues get taken to the police station.

The biggest interpertation baz luhrmann has used is the interpretation of the fim, because the film is not the play, it’s an interpretation of the play. Although we are readithe from a book it’s intended to be a proformance, which is why we talk about the use of dramatic irony, pathetic fallacy etc.

The Chorus of play is represented by the chorus talking but the interpretation is that in the film it’ not the chorus talking, it’s on a tv talking about how the both households are Alike in dignity,in fair Verona (were the scene is set) this is explaining the comment of action

In the modern time of the film the capulets and the montagues drive around in dodgers and all nice cars which is an interpretation because in the olden times they wouldn’t of been all nice cars and everyone driving them around so baz luhrmann uses that an interpretation to separate modern times to olden times.
